that thrive on the golf
course
nature is an important part of a round of golf, and at the bogstad course we are fortunate to have a rich birdlife. oslo golf club wishes to make conditions favourable to enable different types of birds to thrive. we have set up more than 100 bird boxes around the course. e birds contributes to a nice atmosphere on the course, and they also keep the insect populations in check. one single small bird takes several thousand insects a day. here are some birds you probably will encounter during the golf season: chimney swift (tårnseiler) great aviators who go at high speed across the fairways in search of small insects. at bogstad they prefer the wide-open fairways on holes 12 and 13. ey are coming from south-africa in may, and return in september. black and white flycatchers ey are frequently observed on holes 11 and 12. come to the country in april- may from tropical africa, and return in september. treecreeper (trekryper) treecreeper is a small bird of 12-13 cm. it is often seen crawling up tree trunks loo- king for insects in the bark crevices. it’s often observed by the 16th green and 17th tee.
