in world war i the women veterans of louisiana will visit the eden park library at 6 p.m. on thursday, november 16, to give a talk for adults on the role of african-american women during world war i, as well as how they were central to the strength of allied forces despite the racism and gender discrimination of the time. attendees will also learn how african-american women served in various organizations including the red cross, the ymca, and the ywca, to provide support to african-american troops in the face of institutionalized discrimination. african-american women also used the war effort to advance their own claims to equal citizenship. ? ebrpl.com 2 2 b r p a r e n t s . c o m | n o v e m b e r 2 0 1 7
