whoa,
baby
! a friend recently called me to share her good news. she and her husband were grandparents. i felt a shared sense
of joy as i remembered the births of my own grandchildren. the happily awaited arrival of a newborn is a powerful bonding event for every family. members of two separate families come together to celebrate the hopes and expectations made for the new arrival. the most basic values in a new mom?s life
is affirmed as she looks on in wonder at the miracle a new baby represents. she even manages to forget her own troubles as she responds to the news, the changes, and the growth of her tiny infant. but too soon, moms can also get bogged down in the sometimes mundane cycle of day-to-day survival. the details and demands of hectic, everyday schedules can sometimes conspire to take away pleasurable moments of appreciation that are so very real during these special times. and that, in essence, affects our ability as parents to raise our children with an attitude of appreciation for life?s blessings. i hope this issue will serve as a resource for helping to make your childbirth experience more satisfying; that by relieving some of your worry, we might enable you to have a greater appreciation of this special event. i also urge you to not let go of that sense of wonder as your baby grows from one size of diapers into the next. continue to share that sense of specialness with your children as they grow. don?t wait for heartfelt memories to be stirred. let your sense of life?s abundance grow right along with your child. for no matter how big they get, your little miracles never outgrow the need to know that their presence in your life has brought you joy. a my foreman-plaisance publisher/editor in chief amy @br parent s.com the joys ?f having a baby 8 p i n k ? b l u e | f a l l 2 0 1 8
