students recently learned directly from the creators of the bloxels gameboard and app, which provides a simple process for creating a video game. bloxels representatives visited the school to demonstrate how the app, which encourages students to tell a story through a video game, works. to create the game, students draw an image of the hero, villain, or background scenery. they then use color-coded blocks to replicate the drawing onto a grid. finally, students snap a photo with the bloxels ipad app and the image comes to life. the students trained to use the app will train other students at the school, and teachers will be able to incorporate the technology into a variety of lessons. pbs students clean bayou fountain parkview baptist eighth grade students went above and beyond as they cleaned up a 1.25 mile stretch of bayou fountain. they pulled out an assortment of trash and pollutants including 207 plastic bottles, 113 aluminum cans, 42 glass bottles, 10 straws, 4 oil bottles, 2 car tires, 23 golf balls, 4 baseballs, and 2 trash bags full of styrofoam. mr. tyler parker, a physical science teacher at the school, led this effort because plastics and trash are constantly being dumped into our oceans. they worked to honor god and be good stewards of the planet. connect e d u c at i o n emerge center becoming a charter school the much lauded emerge center, a private school for mostly students with autism that integrates therapy, is becoming a public charter school. when the emerge center reopens in august, the school will be free, and students who live within the east baton
