we should still give thanks this
thanksgiving
will provide my
family
with the opportunity to create some new traditions while also enjoying the old ones in new ways. we have an opportunity to go where we have never gone before. getting the
family
together gets harder as the
year
s go by, but this
year
, i?m determined. we will set the table and create our own festive
thanksgiving
feast before everyone needs to go off in their separate directions. we?ll make do with the situation we have, and be thankful that we still get to share some of our day and some of our traditions together. one of my favorite traditions is doing all of the cooking for our
family
meal. however, i like to utilize as many ovens as possible to make sure that the meal is done on time. this tradition will be especially helpful this
year
due to the juggling of hectic schedules. from mashed potatoes and carrot souffle to green bean casseroles, cherry pies, and the turkey, i have big plans to send dishes home with
family
members the night before with directions on when to put them in the oven and for how long. i want everything done on time and, besides, it will truly be a
family
thanksgiving
if everyone is helping out. our new
thanksgiving
celebration has me thinking about how different this
year
will be for so many other families as well. for many, it will be the first holiday without loved ones who have passed. for some, a place setting may be empty because of a loved one who is off defending our country. we all experience the holidays a little differently, but we must remember that we still have so many things to be thankful for. i encourage all of you to remember to give thanks this
year
, even if it?s just for having
family
members who help you finish the
thanksgiving
meal so it will be done and on the table in time. stay connected enter to win free goodies, and be the first to know what's going on around town at brparents.com the weekender receive the latest news and trends right in your inbox. subscribe at brparents.com facebook facebook.com/ batonrougeparents talk to me amy@brparents.com brpm app download our free app at google play or in the apple app store amy foreman-plaisance publisher/editor in chief in every issue / a m o t h e r ? s v o i c e 1 2 b r p a r e n t s . c o m | n o v e m b e r 2 0 1 7
