baton rouge summers are sweltering, and our cold drinks don?t last long in the heat. be aware that the world emphasizes style but substance is what really matters.? - tony dungy dine out with dad nite from the mouths of dads stay connected a day in the life of dad play / # t e a m d a d if you want to read more of brandon?s adventures, visit us online. ? brparents.com pic of the month it?s time for a meeting family meetings have officially started. kylee, 8, dylan, 3, tyler, 3, amy, and i are all present. the meeting is officially called to order.
now
why am i having meetings with two 3-year-olds and an 8-year-old? well, we have meetings at the office, and that seems to keep things going, so why not start them at home? some things have got to change here. for one, when you have twin boys, they seem to destroy everything in sight, and if it is not destroyed, then it?s laying on the floor or stuck in the couch. so as we get this meeting started, i find myself sounding like a broken record saying, ?look at me. listen. does everyone understand? this is not a joke. focus!? needless to say, there is more laughing than respect in the room. so i have to take it up a notch. i introduce a new rule, and if it is not followed, their toys go in the
trash
! all it took were the words ?
trash
,? and ?toys? next to each other for them to act. ?
now
that i have your attention, we are having cleanup time every night for 20 minutes. anything that is not picked up and put where it belongs will go in a
trash
bag for two days.?
now
it is time to put the theory into practice? ?it?s cleanup time and the clock starts
now
!? the new song on the broken record is, ?you?re not cleaning. don?t forget that. that is not yours. that?s
trash
. don?t touch that, i will get it. ask your mother!? after it was all done, i grabbed my
trash
bag and picked up a number of basketballs, scooters, water guns, and racecars. meanwhile i was getting beat up by the twins, crying and hitting me with a pillow saying, ?that?s mine! give it back!? i replied, ?nope, not gonna happen. two days and you get it back.? but, hey, no means no, and clean is clean, so they can hate me all they want. their tears won?t last long. the house is clean, they learn a lesson, and i?m happy.
